It's one thing to get a thoughtful gift and be upset that it isn't exactly what you asked for—that can definitely be considered selfish and ungrateful. But it is entirely another thing when you are given a gift that you can 100% tell had zero thought process behind it. Sure, if it's a gift from someone you're not too close too, like a co-worker at a white elephant, then of course that is a fine gift standard. But from someone you love and care about and discussed the gift giving expectations, that feels like a blow to the heart.
This boyfriend, after the girlfriend made Christmas not only magical for him but his family as well, gave her items he seemed to dig up last minute from the dollar store. She was trying her hardest to be positive and grateful, but she couldn't help her heart sinking into her stomach. After everything she confessed to her boyfriend about this holiday, he does her dirty like that???

Luckily, as stated before, the girlfriend seems to have mastered communication, because she was able to express and explain her feelings to her boyfriend. Though at first her boyfriend was resistant, she stayed empathetic and was able to go deeper into the sentiment of it all. Eventually, her boyfriend was able to see her side, express his own, and mend the situation in a loving manner. That's the key to relationships, folks—communication! We know New Year's Eve gifts or stockings aren't really a thing, but maybe they should be in this case…

‘He didn’t care at all…’: Girlfriend communicates how important Christmas is to her since her parents passing, boyfriend says he understands, but then only gifts her unthoughtful $1-store gifts
The holidays can be a rough time for some. It isn't only holly jolly things that happen during this time of the year, anything can happen, even heartbreaking things. The world is still spinning and time is still chugging along, so sometimes Christmas isn't just about the holiday, sometimes it means so much more—bad or good. So when this woman expressed how important it was to her boyfriend, she made sure to get her point across. She had a very serious conversation with him, sat him down, and told him that this holiday is important to her because it was important to her parents who recently had passed within four months of each other. She said they used to make it magical for her every year, so she is going to try her hardest to make it magical for him, and she would appreciate it if he put in the same amount of effort. They set some boundaries, like gift limit and pricing, and agreed to make it a special holiday for the two of them. Unfortunately, the boyfriend seemed not to be as good as a communicator as his girlfriend. Christmas morning came and well, the girlfriend was let down…
